An established professional services business is looking to appoint a Credit Controller to join its central Finance team.

This is an opportunity to take ownership of an allocated ledger, drive cash collection and support the business in maintaining strong cash flow, while building effective relationships with clients and internal stakeholders.

The Role:

Reporting to the Credit Manager, you will be responsible for managing outstanding debt, resolving payment issues and ensuring customer accounts are maintained accurately and in line with agreed payment terms.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing the end to end collection of outstanding debt across an allocated ledger, ensuring payments are received within agreed terms.
  • Proactively monitoring aged debt, reducing overdue balances and escalating high risk accounts where appropriate.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients and internal stakeholders to support timely payment and effective query resolution.
  • Investigating and resolving invoice, purchase order and billing disputes to remove barriers to payment.
  • Working with senior stakeholders to highlight collection issues, agree action plans and drive outstanding balances through to resolution.
  • Providing regular updates on collection performance, aged debt and potential bad debt exposure.
  • Supporting accurate account management, cash allocation, reporting and forecasting.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve credit control processes and collection performance.

About You:

You will have proven experience in credit control and debt collection, with a track record of managing outstanding debt and achieving cash collection targets.

You will also demonstrate:

  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build productive relationships at all levels.
  • Experience investigating and resolving invoice, PO and billing disputes.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy when reconciling accounts and maintaining customer records.
  • Strong Excel skills, including VLOOKUP and PivotTables, to support debt analysis and reporting.
  • A proactive and organised approach, with the confidence to manage competing priorities and take ownership of collection activity.

What's on Offer:

  • Salary of £30,000 to £36,000, depending on experience.
  • Hybrid working, with 2 days in the office and 3 days working from home.
  • The opportunity to join an established Finance team within a professional services environment.
  • A varied role with ownership of a ledger and regular interaction with key stakeholders.
