Newstone Talent Solutions is working exclusively with an exciting proptech business to identify an exceptional Head of Finance, who is motivated to join this ambitious company in its early stages. This opportunity will strongly suit a technically astute and commercially focused qualified Accountant, with previous experience of working within the SME sector. The successful Head of Finance will be at the core of driving the businesses long term growth and therefore must possess demonstrable experience of successfully establishing a finance function.
Head of Finance Key Responsibilities:
- Working alongside an outsourced accounting firm to deliver month end
- Developing new monthly and quarterly financial reports to present results and identify trends and undertake variance analysis
- Stringently managing cash flow whilst keeping working capital at optimum levels
- Enhancing and updating current accounting systems
- Managing the cost base of the business with rigorous discipline
- Take ownership of the forecasting model which reflects the strategic vision of the company
- Reviewing all R&D and VAT submissions and applying for appropriate grants
- Implementing new internal processes such as expense management and FX
- Building new process and solutions for new products that are launched
- Building and reviewing investment cases based on ROI
- Building strong relationships with third parties including HMRC and banks
- Liaising with and presenting strategic reports to senior executives and board members
The Candidate - Qualifications & Experience:
- ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified, with at least 5 years PQE
- SME sector experience at FD/Head of Finance level
- Recent experience of setting up a finance function
- ‘Hands on’ experience of managing all aspects of finance including both management and financial accounting
- Managing a small finance team - relocating, hiring and developing
- Advanced Excel modelling skills
- Cashflow Management
- Excellent IT Skills
- Ability to work under pressure sometimes with an element of ambiguity and prioritise tasks accordingly
- Confident, outwardly mobile, motivated and results oriented
Knowledge and Skills:
- Ability to structure complex problems into simple solutions and execute effectively
- Highly numerate with commercial acumen
- Clear communicator
- Strong listening, negotiation and influencing skills
